The Regional conference of the Balkan Network for Monitoring Child Rights was held on 23 December 2013 in Belgrade. The conference was attended by the representatives of the following organisations: Our Children (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Hi Neighbour (Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Centre for the Rights of the Child in Montenegro (Podgorica, Montenegro) and Child Rights Centre (Belgrade, Serbia).
The objectives of the conference were presentation of the General Measures of Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, exchange of information on the activities of the organisations, the exchange of models of good practice and developed materials, as well as consideration of the possibilities of joint activities in the future.
Balkan Network for the Monitoring Child Rights is an informal network of organisations that monitor the implementation of child rights and which are headquartered in the Balkans. The network is organised with the aim of improving child rights and the position of children in society through mutual support and exchange of experiences in order to continuously improve the monitoring of child rights implementation, advocacy for child rights and the promotion of child rights in the Balkans and Europe.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding of the Balkan Network for the Monitoring Child Rights, the network founders Our Children (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Hi Neighbour (Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Centre for the Rights of the Child in Montenegro (Podgorica, Montenegro) and Child Rights Centre (Belgrade, Serbia) established a work plan for 2014.
