In the period January-June 2012, in cooperation with three groups of children and yoth involved in the project “Living together” the Child Rights Centre conducted an action to introduce children to the Draft Law on the Rights of the Child and collect opinions and recommendations of children for improving certain legal provisions. The process has involved 779 children in 30 focus groups. The views and opinions of children presented to the Ombudsman should choose a direction in which the working group and institutions that created the Draft Law on the Rights of the Child will move in their future work, and in the same time this is the way the children to participate in decisions in adopting regulations concern them in most parts. Involving children in the process of preparing the legal text in this manner represents a significant contribution to the development of child participation in decision-making process in Serbia.
