“Empowering children/ young people with disabilities to improve responses to Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN)” – Working Group formed

At the premises of the Child Rights Centre, on 22nd August 2014, the first constituent meeting of the National Working Group of the project “Empowering children/young people with disabilities to improve responses to Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN)”.

The project is being implemented by the Child Rights Centre in partnership with the LUMOS Foundation and with the financial support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia under EIDHR program. The meeting was held in order to introduce the National Working Group to the tasks and work methodologies. During the forthcoming period members of the Working Group will work on preparation of the guide for better understanding and implementation of the General protocol for protection of children from abuse and neglect in situation when the protection is provided to a child with developmental disabilities. The guide is intended for professionals of all systems (social protection, education, health care, police, etc.) who are dealing with protection of children from abuse and neglect.

The Working Group is consisted of eminent experts and professionals experienced in the work with children with developmental disabilities and within the system of protection from abuse and neglect, representatives of civil society organisations, parents and children.
