National Conference “Improving the System of Protection of Children and Youth from Violence in Recreational and Sporting Activities”

Child Rights Centre started a project “Prevention and Protection of Children and Youth from Violence in Sports – Score in the Spirit of the Sport” funded by Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights programme. The project is being implemented in the Republic of Serbia during period 17 April 2013 – 17 April 2014. The project should contribute to the improvement of the system of prevention and protection of youth athletes from violence in sports environment, as well as to bring to the solutions and models that should help children playing sports in a safe and motivating manner by involving coaches, youth athletes and parents.

Belgrade –  The National Conference “Improving the System of Protection of Children and Youth from Violence in Recreational and Sporting Activities” will take place on Tuesday, 25 March in the Serbia Palace.

At the conference the Model Protocol for the protection of children and youth from violence in sports and recreational activities will be presented as well as its importance for improving the system of protection of children and youth from violence, and the framework for its implementation and further improvement of sports for children and youth will be discussed.

The Conference is organised by the Child Rights Centre in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Serbia and with the financial support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) program.

The conference will be opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia Vanja Udovičić, Head of Operations of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia Martin Kern, president of the Sports Federation of Serbia Aleksandar Šoštar, secretary general of the Olympic Committee of Serbia Djordje Višacki and project manager Milena Golic Ruzic. In addition to these, the conference participants will discuss the importance of improving the system of protection of children and youth from violence in sports and recreational activities. Also, the national conference will bring together representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, sports associations and organisations, national and international organisations dealing with the prevention and protection of children from violence, sports professionals and experts in sports, young sportsmen and sportswomen, parents of young sportsmen and sportswomen.
