In July 2012 the Child Rights Centre has begun to implement the project “Operationalization of the General Protocol for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect: Strengthening the role of centres for social work and inter-sectoral cooperation in Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Kragujevac.” The project is being implemented with the aim of overall improving of the protection of children from violence through full operational implementation of the General Protocol for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in the four largest cities in Serbia – Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Kragujevac, as well as the formation of four resource bases in Serbia that would serve in the future for strengthening of the protection of children throughout the country. The first phase of the project included the construction of the social welfare system capacity through training of trainers, following with training for members of the social welfare system, which was carried out by trainers. The second phase of the project is related to operationalization of the General Protocol for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect at the local level in Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Kragujevac through meetings of the working group and meetings with champions.
