Project title: Monitoring the Implementation of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child Recommendations, with a Special Focus on Strengthening Child Participation

The Child Rights Centre, in partnership with the UNICEF Serbia Country Office, continues the implementation of the project “Monitoring the Implementation of the Recommendations of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child”. The project is implemented from 27 July 2023 to 31 December 2025.
The project focuses on improving the monitoring of the Committee’s recommendations through cooperation between the state and the civil society sector, with the aim of establishing a sustainable system that adequately protects children’s rights. Project partners include members of the Coalition for Monitoring Child Rights in the Republic of Serbia: the Užice Child Rights Centre, the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, ASTRA – Anti-Trafficking Action, and the Centre for Social Policy.
In the previous period, the Coalition developed an online platform with indicators for monitoring the implementation of the recommendations, which is regularly updated. The platform supports easier tracking of progress in implementing the Committee’s recommendations in Serbia, both for civil society organizations and state institutions, thereby facilitating reporting processes.
The Coalition continues to monitor the implementation of recommendations and to provide periodic reporting. To ensure comprehensive and relevant data, regular consultations with MODS members and meetings with relevant state authorities will continue. In addition, the Coalition contributes to the advancement of children’s rights through advocacy in areas where room for improvement has been identified.
Together with the Coalition for Monitoring Child Rights in Serbia, the Child Rights Centre will prepare and submit the Fourth and Fifth Alternative Periodic Report on the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. A Children’s Report will also be developed with the active participation of children.
