On Wednesday, November 18, 2013 in Belgrade the fifth focus group was held in the process of drafting the Model Protocol for the prevention and protection of children and youth from violence in sports.
The focus group was held as a part of the project “Prevention and Protection of Children from Violence in Sport”, which is funded by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR).
The focus group was intended for sports journalists and sports news editor. The focus group was organised with the aims of collecting opinions of the participants on the role of the media in preventing violence against and among children and youth in sports, discussing possible greater involvement of the media in prevention, as well as possible modalities of their involvement.
During the focus group the participants were informed about the project “Prevention and Protection of Children from Violence in Sport”, existing data on the occurrence of the violence against and among children and youth in sports, as well as on the international obligations and standards in protection of children and youth from violence in sports.
On the basis of the information collected proposals and recommendations for members of the Working Group for drafting the Model Protocol for the prevention and protection of children and youth from violence in the sport will be formulated.
